NICK WEY HEATS UP AT HANGTOWN

6/1/2000

Recapped By: Doug Hein

Sacramento, wow it was hot.  In the 1st moto I didn't have such a good start and was forced to  battled back for my 8th place finish.  Moto 2 was just as hot and many riders were fading and I capitalized on their fatigue to move up from another bad start.  I caught up to Yamaha of Troy's Ernesto Fonseca and we started battling.  The battle lasted the whole race.  This was an epic battle as I would pass him and he would pass me back.

Ernesto was extremely fresh for Moto 2 due to a crash in moto one which caused him to card a DNF.  It seemed every time I tried to put a move on him he would come right back.  I was his inspiration for sure because he ran into the back of me the previous round (Glen Helen) when he cried foul, but by the end of the moto we had caught my teammate Tallon Vohland.  I could not get by either guy so I ended up getting a 6th, which was ok.   My 5th overall was a big improvement from the week before at the opener (Glen Helen) where I finished crashed induced motos with a 12th overall.

I glad Hangtown is over........... right on.
