BUDDS CREEK, MD (June 16, 2002) - At his second race back after a knee injury, Team Moto XXX's Nick Wey finished 18th overall in the premier 250cc class at Round Five of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships at the Budds Creek National. In the two motos, Wey finished 24th and 13th.

"I am still trying to get back into race mode after my injury," said Wey of the Budds Creek National. "The second moto I was on the gas. I was pushing it a little more because my knee felt better and my Moto XXX Yamaha was running awesome. This is my first year on the 250 outdoor and considering the injury, I think I am doing pretty good."

With the two 250cc races under his belt, Wey has moved up to 27th place in the 250cc standings.

The upcoming Red Bud National is Wey's home state track where he honed his skills as an amateur and as a pro on a 125cc bike. He adds this about Red Bud being the next round, "It will be nice to have a break to be home in Michigan, and then head down to Buchanan for the National after the July 4th holiday. I have always liked Red Bud because it's so hilly and a long track. My knee and race speed should be much improved by then."

Wey and the Moto XXX team travel to Red Bud Track-n-Trail in Buchanan, MI for Round Six of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships on July 7.
