Nick Wey Feeling Better on His 250

Recapped By: Pat Schutte - OMS Sports

NEW BERLIN, NY (July 21, 2002) -Team Moto XXX's Nick Wey finished 16th overall after running in the top ten in both motos in the premier 250cc class at Round 8 of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships at the Unadilla National. He finished 10-36 in his motos after a crash in the second moto.

"My Moto XXX Yamaha got me top ten starts in both motos," said Wey of this weekend's ride. "It felt great to run up there, especially in the first moto where I finished 10th. I had a good start in the second moto too, but late in the race I crashed and couldn't re-group."

Wey sits in 18th place in the 250 championship standings with 67 points, only 5 points out of the top 15.

Wey says this about his first few rides in the 250cc class, "I keep feeling more and more comfortable on the 250. There are only 4 races left and if I finish in the top 10 in the rest, I will be really happy. That would be good, considering I didn't even think I would be racing this summer after my injury before the Glen Helen National (Round One)."

Wey and the Moto XXX team travel this Sunday to Washougal MX Park in Washougal, WA for Round Nine of the AMA/Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships.
