SAN DIEGO (Jan. 19, 2004) - Team Suzuki's Nick Wey blazed out to the holeshot in last week's Anaheim 2 round of the 2004 THQ/AMA Supercross Series, putting his RM 250 in the early lead and riding a solid remainder of the race for sixth overall and, more importantly, moving himself and Team Suzuki into the top ten overall 250cc rankings.

Wey, piloting the only Suzuki in the top ten overall in the 250 class, moved from 11th to eighth place overall in the standings in just one race. He's currently only four points out of fifth place overall.

"Things are going well," said Wey. "I'm getting more and more used to the bike and am pleased with the way I've been moving up in the standings. I still feel that I have the speed to place even higher, but with this being a new team and all I've had to be patient. I'm looking forward to San Diego this weekend. It's one of our biggest crowds of the year, the excitement level is high and I plan on doing even better this week."

Last year at San Diego Wey finished an impressive fifth in the 250cc main aboard a privateer bike.

Next week Wey and the Suzuki Factory team travel back up the I-5 from San Diego to Anaheim's Edison International Field Round Five of the 2004 THQ/AMA Supercross Series.
