ANAHEIM, Calif., (Jan. 10, 2005) – MDK Motorsports’ Nick Wey
continued his reign as the top non-factory backed 250 class rider, this past
weekend racing to a sixth place overall position at the opening round of the
2005 THQ/AMA Supercross Series at Anaheim’s Angels Stadium.
Wey, who had to go to the LCQ after coming up a couple spots short of
transferring to the main out of his heat race, got his CR250R to remain upright
for much of the LCQ, coming in second overall.
Then, in the main, Wey had to battle from the back of the pack to get up with
the leaders – and held his spot for a much-deserved 6th place finish.
“Man, I haven’t ridden in mud like that since being up in northern Michigan on
the trails with my dad,” said Wey. “That was insane. I was completely spent
after that race. I think we all were. Nobody that finished left a thing on the
track.”
Wey and MDK Motorsports get right back to action this weekend when the THQ/AMA
Supercross Series makes its second stop of the 16-round season at Phoenix’s
Bank One Ballpark.
