CARLSBAD, Calif., (April 28, 2005) – /fontfamily>Crown
Athlete Management Group announced today that it has signed Nick Wey to the
group of motocross athletes it represents, effective immediately.
Wey, who was the THQ/AMA Supercross Series’ top privateer racer this past year
before a midseason injury that forced him to the sideline, joins the Crown AMG
team as he’s in the midst of rehabilitating his knee in preparation for the
2005 AMA Motocross season. The Michigan native, who could be back in action as
soon as Hangtown, cited numerous reasons for aligning the business side of this
racing career with Crown AMG – the No. 1 reason being, according to Wey, Scott
Sepkovic’s (Crown’s President) ability to bring in outside-the-industry
sponsorships for his clients.
“I’ve known Scott for quite a while, see him at the Nationals racing amateur
days and always have been pretty tight with him,” said Wey. “Scott’s got a good
reputation and has been able to work a deal that will bring additional
sponsorship to the MDK Motorsports team, so we decided to team up and let Crown
handle the business side of my racing career.”
The deal Wey mentions, which will be ‘officially’ announced later this month,
brings a rising energy drink that will be available at a popular national
convenience store chain in on the MDK Motorsports deal that Wey already enjoys.
Both Sepkovic and Wey feel it’s the right move for Wey’s career, and something
that will lead to bigger and better things down the road for the popular racer.
“Nick is definitely one of the premier racers in the world and we’re absolutely
stoked to bring him on as part of the Crown AMG team,” said Sepkovic. “He’s a
very disciplined athlete with a history of success in Supercross and Motocross
that makes him highly marketable both within our industry and to potential
sponsors looking in from the outside."
“And, on top of that, Nick will no doubt be a great influence on the rest of
the athletes at Crown AMG.”
