Michigan flyer returns to his stomping grounds with two
solid top ten efforts in last two races (Southwick & Budds
Creek) following recent reconstructive knee surgery
CARLSBAD, Calif., (June 29, 2005) – Team MDK/Unbound
Energy’s Nick Wey continues to amaze the motocross industry, coming back from
reconstructive knee surgery to score two top ten finishes in his first races
back – Southwick & Budds Creek - on the AMA Motocross Championship tour,
presented by FMF.
This weekend Wey will return to his native Michigan to
compete in the Monster Energy/Kawasaki Motocross National at RedBud, presented
by Concept Haulers – round five of the series.
“It’s always great to return home to RedBud to race,” said
Wey. “Things are going real well with my racing, practicing and training and
I’m excited about the chance to use RedBud to better my results a bit and
continue my ascent towards the top ten in the overall standings.”
Last year at RedBud Wey raced to a respectable seventh place
overall finish, scoring a consistent 7-8 in the two moto format. The track, one
of the most demanding on the circuit with it’s constant elevation changes and
massive jumps – including the famed “LaRocco’s Leap” – suits Wey’s supercross
specialist riding style quite well.
“I’ve raced at RedBud all my life so I don’t figure there'll
be any surprises,” said Wey. “With proper bike set up, a good start and by
knocking out some solid laps, there's no reason why I can’t improve
on my results from Southwick and Budds.”
Even though he missed the first two rounds of the series,
Wey’s efforts in rounds three and four catapulted him into 13th place in the
overall standings, well within striking distance of the top ten with eight
races remaining in the season.
Unbound Energy is available in 16 oz. cans at BP and am/pm
