Stylishly fast motocrosser rocks the Upstate New York track with a solid
9th place finish; leads the MDK/Unbound team into action this
weekend in Colorado
CARLSBAD, Calif., (July 20, 2005) – Team MDK/Unbound Energy’s
Nick Wey raced to solid 8-9 finishes in 250 class action at Unadilla Valley
Sports Center (New Berlin, N.Y.) this past weekend, good enough for ninth
overall while elevating himself into the top ten overall in the class points
standings despite missing the first two races of the season
while recovering from surgery.
Wey’s amazing comeback story will
be the subject of a feature story in an upcoming edition of the “Lansing
State Journal” – Michigan’s capital city newspaper.
“Yeah, things have been going
pretty good,” said Wey. “I’d reeled off three-straight sixth place finishes,
then slipped a bit to ninth at Unadilla. All good, though. We’ll run it back
this weekend in Colorado.”
Added Wey on the new Colorado
track, Lakewood’s Thunder Valley Raceway: “Since most of us have never raced
there, it should be a pretty level playing field. I’ve heard they’ve been
working hard to get it ready and are expecting a large crowd since it’s right
in the Denver metropolitan area. The altitude might cause a bit of a problem
early with the jetting on the bikes, but we’ll get it figured out and work to
improve on our finish at Unadilla.”
Noteworthy: Wey’s efforts through
the first four rounds he was able to race have amounted to 105 points, making
him the highest placing racer to have sat on the sidelines recovering from
injury in two of the first four rounds.
Unbound Energy is available in 16
oz. cans at BP and am/pm retail locations.
