to a season-best 7th in main
CARLSBAD,
Calif., (Jan. 29, 2008) – Team MDK/KTM’s Nick Wey gave the factory KTM 450SX is best Supercross class finish
to date, placing 7th
in the mud at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, Round Four of the 2008 Monster
Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
Besieged by torrential rains, Wey got out
of the start mid pack and worked his way up to 10th
place in a furious first lap. Wey then continued to pick off some of the top
pros, as well as keeping other behind him, and moved up to 7th
place in the rain-shortened main event – one spot behind reigning AMA Outdoor
National MX champ Grant Langston.
“The key to doing well in a mudder is being
patient and remaining upright and on the track,” said Wey. “I was pretty much
able to do that tonight. My KTM 450SX performed flawlessly, providing the power
when I needed it, but also showing how well balanced and connected the bike is
to even the most adverse conditions.”
With the effort Wey moved into a tie for 10th
place overall in the standings with Josh Hill, each with 40 points.
“The plan is to continue to improve and
eventually get the KTM up on the podium,” said Wey. “I feel that’s a realistic
goal and I certainly have the backing of my team and sponsors in order to
achieve that goal.”
Next up for Wey and the MDK/KTM team is the
third installment of the Anaheim Angel Stadium trilogy, Feb. 2nd.
Also stepping up to back Wey this year,
along with MSR and KTM, are a number of high level sponsors including: Spy
Optic, Oxtar, Vans and Bell.
