Unbound Energy’s Nick Wey Continues To Produce Top Ten Results On AMA MX Nationals Tour

CORONA, Calif., (July 21, 2008) – Scrape away the mud from last Sunday’s burly MX National at the famed Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, N.Y., and there were a couple Unbound Energy guys who put up solid performances with one in particular, Jack Carpenter (Atomic/MDK/Unbound), who wound up with a career-best overall finish.

Beginning with the top finisher, Unbound’s Nick Wey (MDK/KTM), who braved the rain and lightning in the red flag-shortened contest for a 10th place overall finish. Wey, who still has memories of the most spectacular wreck he took in his career – at that very Unadilla track – was pumped to get out of upstate New York in one piece and still holding on to the 7th place overall spot in the premier MX class.

“That’s about as gnarly as it gets,” said Wey. “When they call a race for lightning, you can only imagine how brutal it is out there. And not just for us, but for the fans as well. So we headed back to the rig, handed out all the Unbound we had left and split for home. Happy to get out of there with the few points I did.”

Putting it on the edge for his hometown fans, Jack Carpenter scored a decisive 8th place finish in the second moto to give him 12th place overall. His first-ever top ten finish at a National and his best-ever overall finish.

“Incredible,” said Paul Carpenter, Jack’s cousin and team owner/manager/racer for Atomic/MDK/Unbound. “I can’t begin to explain how pumped I am for Jack. He’s worked so hard for this…and for his best-ever finish to come in front of a ton of our friends and family is just incredible, simple as that.”

Next up for the Wey and the MDK/KTM team and Atomic/MDK/Unbound Energy team is this Sunday’s Washougal MX National in Washougal, Wash., round nine of the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.
